Unhappy Families

A little girl lost ran down woody heart paths
it seems like all her life
and she wondered as she rounded each bend
if she would see her Daddy there
crouched down with his loving arms bare
waiting for her to come skipping
right back into her rightful place
where she knew she belonged
nestled in the crook of his arms
Her so small and snug
feeling warm
sheltered
safe
Where she wished to remain always

A snake sprang up and hissed in her ear
that only viper love was allowed near
She spat and rattled for everyone to hear

A lost soul wandered woody heart paths
In search of her Daddy's horsey knee
enduring love and loyalty
timeless, unconditional
In her heart
Always

Good. Fathers lead to freedom. Mothers do in a quieter way. Like the poem.

There is this feeling of safety one can have as a child that does never really return... Your poem really brings that longing :)

I am a bit lost about the title though. I have to say I expected something completely different... Maybe it is unhappy because the dad does not seem to be there? But the girl seems so sure, so full of hope, so trusting...
