You were the daughter I’d always dreamt of
You gave new reason to my life
I knew the beating of your heart.

Your life was a miracle for me to see
You gave all your love so freely
With every beating of your heart.

Through the years I watched you change
I hoped & prayed for you my darling
And cherished the beating of our hearts.

The world of suffering fast descended
I stood in helpless agony straining
To hear the beating of your heart.

Now the majestic music of the angels
Matches a simple rhythm I know well.
It is the beating of your heart.

I pray & toil now for others
Who like you will soon be gone
I hear the echo of our hearts.

You were my dream, my inspiration
I thank the Lord for your short life.
You are the beat within my heart.
