To show that I shared her joy
But she never noticed

She slept
Breaths calm and steady
Like a soothing hymn
And I laid down, just as she did
To show I was with her
But she never realised

She
Was a person
And I,
A mere silhouette

You really had me believing there were two people. I like surprise endings and yours was good. Then I heard the loneliness. I wish I could have figured it out without you telling me though.

I draw around the shadows of my students each February. They love it.
