1. discuss the techniques used which draw our attention to power shifts between characters.
2. Playwrights often use the stage as a way of challenging the audience to think about social and political issues. discuss with reference to one or more plays.
3. what is the importance of the title.
4. how does the play illustrate inheritance, the passing along of traits from parent to child?
5. what is the relationship between Mrs. Linde's arrival and Nora's awakening and transformation?
6. Many readers find Nora an admirable character for having the courage to make a radical change in her life. however, one question that must be considered in evaluating her character is this one: was she right to abandon her children?

1. Unexpected utterances and actions.

2. Like Nora, many husbands treated their wives as 'dolls'. Ditto, Ibsen's 'The Master Builder' and 'Rosmerholm'.

3. Nora lives in the fantasy constructed by and for her husband.

4. Nora's father treated her as a doll, and Nora has been treating her own children likewise. That's why she has to leave them - to learn to do better! You can't learn in a doll's house. (To take her children from their father, had she wished, was socially unacceptable)

5. Linde has had to face harsh realities - she sees clearly. That's why Linde does not save Nora from the revealing letter.

6. See answer to 4.
