I want to find a short story but dont know the title or author

The short story is something like a man from the aztec empire who is about to be sacrificed on an altar. he is having flashes of the future and sees himself on a motorcycle but doesnt know how to describe it. he calls it a giant metal grasshopper or something of the sort. i think his state is shifting as well.

Hi Iburnice! I googled "aztec altar sacrafice motorcycle", got pretty lucky (especially since i had misspelled 'sacrifice') and straight away found:

Julio Cortázar's short story "La noche boca arriba," translated as "The Night Face up" (1985: 66-76)

i just saw it was being discussed in some academic paper/review or something, something posted online. i think it was a 'paper' about latin american reclamation of ancient mythology, or something like that.

didn't read it, but maybe i will someday!

We just studied this story in my Spanish literature class. It was definitely one of my favorites and I would recommend it to everyone! It's intriguing and it really makes you think about what defines reality versus what defines a dream.
