I've read both of these autobiographies, and have to do an essay comparing and contrasting them.
I know they are almost both memoirs. They both were a "rags-to-riches" story. Both pieces of writing were composed of life events and encounters with hardships that in the end brought them success. It seems Douglass uses more dramatic and personal style. Douglass didn't really edit any of his stories to protect others or himself, however Benjamin did so he wouldn't damage any reputations. All in all both authors have word very hard, both pieces of writing have stood still in history, and probably always will.
Can anyone give me some more "Similarities * Differences"---to add?
