(I don't think this one is very well-done, actually, but I had to write it because it told me to. I'm blaming the poem on the poem itself, yes. :D)

Still a wild-child and
Skipping along the beach,
Barefoot and bare-legged,
Hair helter–skelter and
Humming to myself.

The seashells are easy pickins today,
And a mango smoothie melts in my hands.
I stalk a seabird stealthily,
Until, startled, he scurries forth
And scatters with the rest.
I love them.

The waves still sing,
“Unicorns”
To me, and the sky
Is still baby blue-

In a glance,
I glimpse
Suddenly,
The movement,
The rolling of muscles,
The predator coil
And profile,
The broad shoulders that lean
Forward, sprinkled with sand
And sea and salt…
He’s laughing, somethin’ deep,
And in the pit
Of my stomach,
Something churns-
But hastily I clumsily catch
The creature who calls at me-
Clawing at my palms,
Curious beyond a care.

“Sleep, sleep, go back to sleep,
Waking woman, full of want –
You’ve still the world to conquer,
Wishes and woes to replace
With smiles of success –“
I whisper,
“Sleep, sleep.”

My face burns red –
It’s just the sun, however,
Though my toes are buried deep in the sand
In shame of me.
Voluptuous,
Courteous ladies smile as
They pass, and I,
Gangly and out-of-sorts,
Grin in greeting-

(These events make it easier
To keep the
Waif-like woman
At bay.)

The waves still sing,
“Unicorns”
To me, and the sky
Is still baby blue-

Until the night-
Under a molten black-and-blue sky-

When woman writhes,
And, wanting,
waits to ‘waken.

A Wispy woman stirs. Right's of passage. Write's of passage. Wonderful to read.
