The rumor of his attractivness was around for a long time, but until that day, it had been hidden from her. That day, with the aid of her friend, new levels of knowledge enabled her to meet him. After their encounter, she learned many things about him, and unlearned many things that had been previously thought to be true. This led her to some new realizations, and that there was more to his existence than met the eye! In fact, the life she lived on before she met him was only one of many. There were other spheres that she thought were opened to her without her direct participation. Actually, they became very close to each other, at all times they were permeating each other not being conscious of it. Life with him allowed her to discover that other people and objects existing on these other realms of life, were just as solid and real as any object on the terrain of the life she had lived while on her own. From that day on she could see those other frontiers.

While they were living together they were provided with things to carry out their duties, just as all other people were doing it. They, also, had some amazing properties. Unlike ordinary relationships, theirs could overcome some limitation by the effort of thought alone. And they thought that they could not be injured, that there was absolutely nothing that would cause damage to them! They, even, used to receive lessons about it in their dreams. They were watching for them, to discover that their love would always survive.

In this way they had many common things, which they both could use separately, such as home, cars, garden, books... Everything was at their disposal either to use it when they were together or not. Sometimes they used it when they were accompanied by other people. They thought that such kind of behaviour was molded in a right way. The truth was, their life was fashioned from the ideas and discoveries which originated on the certain ground.

When they were not together, his presence was accomplished many times. Another word for this is imagination. This way of existence was sought after by them both and the door of new discoveries swang open for them.

When their eyes got wide opened to it, they had first to overcome the obstacles of fear, which presented itself in many forms. The fear of separation and pain that might loom up before them. They had to conquer it and make it disappear.

They were creators, and out of the either of their works, they could create the world they wished to be around them. If they were convinced the world was out there to trick them, and if they had already pictured in their minds what this world looked like, they were not surprised when their gloomest expectations were confirmed. But, also, they were sure that nothing could harm them as long as they were not trapped in the habit of their old way of thinking. They tried hard to release themsevles from the grip of the fear and set themselves free.

They mixed with people, talked to them with a true interest in their words. They started discovering history of the world in a new light of their love, they started discovering their own life, too.

A new and vast dimension of existence was opened to them containing life in abundance. It did not operate by the same laws of their life before they met each other. So many things that had been quite impossile before, became quite commonplace from then on. Colors became more beautiful, and they could experience endless delights with new things that there were to see and disover.

For many years, they lived convinced that some things were not to be questioned. Some previously erroneous intepretations of things, sighted as truth, then seemed to them as caused by ingnorance or someones wish to keep them in subjugation. Their redemption in the final analysis came from their knowledge of themselves and love of this new discoveries they had made.

They new that there were many things that were not exposed at that time. Some of them might appear in the future, and some were from their past that they had forgotten.

The new situation enabled them to use the part of their minds that had been sleeping. They could wake up this part and put it to work to find out more about themselves and their new relationship. In doing so, they could open the door to an amazing existence that had been heretofore beyond their wildest imagination.

The rumor of his relation with another woman was around for a long time, but until that day, it had been hidden from her. That day, with the aid of her intuition, new levels of knowledge enabled her to discover the answer to her question about his secret side of life. By learning to hide and follow him, she learned many things about him, and unlearned many things that had been previously thought to be true. This led her to the realization that his life with her was only a part of his entire self, and there was more to his existence than met the eye! In fact, the life he lived on with her was only one of many. There were other spheres that she thought were opened to her without her direct participation. Actually, they were not really close to each other, but rather at all times they were permeating each other not being conscious of it. But, seeing him with another woman allowed her to discover that other people and objects existing on these other realms of his life, were just as solid and real as any object on the terrain of the life they had together. From that day on she could see those other frontiers.

While they were living together they were provided with things to carry out their duties, just as all other people were doing it. They, also, had some amazing properties. Unlike ordinary relationships, theirs could overcome some limitation by the effort of thought alone. And she thought that she could not be injured, that there was absolutely nothing that would cause damage to her! She, even, used to receive lessons about it in her dreams. She was watching for them, to discover that their love would always survive.

In this way they had many common things, which they both could use separately, such as home, cars, garden, books... Everything was at their disposal either to use it when they were together or not. Sometimes they used it when they were accompanied by other people. They thought that such kind of behaviour was molded in a right way. The truth was, their life was fashioned from the ideas and discoveries which originated on the uncertain ground.

When they were not together, his unfaithfulness was accomplished many times. In other words, it was not necessary for him to belong only to her, as she belonged only to him, although he could do this if he wished. Sometimes, when she thought that he spoke with a business partner, it was actually someone making a love date to him.

This way of existence was sought after by him, and remained elusive and evaded discovery to her until he neglected his perfection in hiding it, so the door of discovery swang open for her.

When her eyes got wide opened to it, she had first to overcome the obstacles of fear, which presented itself in many forms. The fear of separation and pain that might loom up before her. She had to conquer it and make it disappear.

But, also, she was sure that nothing could harm her as long as she was not trapped in the habit of her old way of thinking. She tried hard to release herself from the grip of the fear and set herself free.

First she started visiting people she had neglected in her relation with him. She was talking to them, face-to-face showing true interest in their words. She started discovering history of the world he was not in, she started discovering her own life. She met some new people who she asked for advice and guidance on her problems.

A new and vast dimension of existence was opened to her containing life in abundance. It did not operate by the same laws of her life with him. So many things that had been quite impossile before, became quite commonplace from then on. Colors became more beautiful, and she could experience endless delights with new things that there were to see and disover.

This story somehow reminded me of Chopin's The Awakening. It is a successful depiction of the world as it is perceived by a woman. Two-sided Story does include many feelings that are hard to be discerned by an ordinary eye. Mmaria was able to build the story on the most fragile feelings/sentiments that modern man has ever had.

"By learning to hide and follow him, she learned many things about him, and unlearned many things that had been previously thought to be true," is such an original sentence, among many others, that is not stained by the herd of cliche. To "unlearn" things about a loved one made me think twice on this part of the story as unlearning sounded like the breaking of the truth and building it once again, this time differently.

There's also an optimist world view in this story even though the general texture of it is based opon a sad discovery of unfaithfulness. Unlike Chopin's The Story of an Hour, which ends in a sad way (The reason of her death “of joy that kills"), when the world opens up before the eyes of the woman, Mrs Mallard, Two Sided Story ends in a promise that "she could open the door to an amazing existence that had been heretofore beyond her wildest imagination."

I like dialogues very much -- I like the parts in a story where two or more characters speak and my stories does have dialogues in place of long explanatory paragraphs. Two Sided Story stands, technically, just in the opposite of it. Mmaria manages to get to the heart of the character without too many verbal paintings, leaving part of the unanswered questons to the reader, which makes an easy, as well as interesting, reading.

I found it very thought provoking. To make the two halves similar in style and content, inspite of the huge shift of the underlying parameters was a fantastic idea, skillfully done and worked really well.
In both halves the woman had a full and fullfilled life. That was interesting, in fact the man's infidelity led her to become independent, and to seek a life outside the relationship. Baroq is right to mention kate Chopin, I can see the connection in that twist.

The only problem I had, was the timeline. I came to the conclusion that the two stories covered the same time span, and were alternative tellings of the same story. Is this correct.? Or does the second follow on from the first, do they over lap, and most importantly does it matter.?

As far as I can understand, the story follows a normal time sequence without any overlap or alteration.

The author knows the best.

Or, one half how things seemed, and the other half how they really were. Two sides to one story

That looks possible. It also very compatible with the idea in the story that the woman learns and unlearns the truth -- two sides of the same concept.

Thanks a lot for your comments. I am glad that somebody responded, finally, because I tried to write a story as a sort of game in order to imply many (in this case two) sides of reality. I wrote one (the first) part of the story and, using the same sentences' frame, I inserted another kind of happenings, changing just the necessary words for it. The story (as I wanted it to be) is more intending to depict alternative realities, more like a philosophical study that insinuates multiplicity of life possibilities.
I am surprised that it reminds you of K. Chopin. To be honest, apart from a few facts about her, I hardly know her writings.
Thanks again.
