I have to write a paper on Joyce's life. Throughout his life he passed on several examinations and won exhibition prizes. In my country there aren't such things, only tests, assignments etc. I don't want to write something that isn't true, so do you know what exactly examinations and exhibitions are? Or can you indicate a good and reliable site I can search for this information?

I'm not sure who Joyce is or what he/she did. But an examination is basically a test, but normally it's not taken for a a class but so test someones knowledge in a more formal way on a certain subject.
An exhibition is normally a time/place where an artists or writers etc. Show off their work, They also sometimes have judges picking out the "best" painting...etc.

It could be depending on what time period Joyce is from these definitions could be off slightly as definitions sometimes change with time.
