Hello everybody. I have to write an essay about this subject: Why do people work?, emphasizing the difference between work and labor, in the sense of being "work" what artist do, and "labor" what people do for a living. I have already read a text about the subject, whose author illustrates the idea with the explanation of the concept “work” in the life of three famous people: Mozart, Jack London and Roald Amundsen; Mozart “could not accept life without making music. To live without creating music was meaningless to him. Jack London (...) spent his entire life in an effort to describe people with strong personalities and will power, people who were trying to realize the truth about life. Roald Amundsen, the great Norwegian explorer, sacrificed his life for the work of exploration”.
I think I could also speak about Rilke and Dostoievsky to illustrate this idea, and about some other authors. But I would appreciate your help if you give me your opinion, more writers examples and, most and foremost, the title of a couple of works on the subject, because I would need to cite a work but I don´t know where to find it.
Thanks a lot
