Suddenly...

There came a vitriol stream
of you cxxt abuse
it fired out
and unsettled the cool night
my stillness
and aloneness was disrupted
by shattering glass
shaken bins
beaten body
pleading sound
In a space where social deafness abounds
where we all live
The squealie wheel exit reminded me
as it fled to another place
That its unsightly face
appears everywhere
I can't shut it out of my dreams
can I?

Later...
I bathed in the silence of night....

Grim and stark images.
This seems really disturbing to me. I take it to mean that the person in the poem has been the target of some kind of assault. And noone did anything or cared about it. The squealie wheel exit seems like a hospital? But it all seems distant, as if the person was not assaulted ,but another person was.
There seems peace, of a kind, at the end.

yes. lastnight my peace was disrupted as I listened to someone else's domestic drama in the street. Fast violent, it beat a hasty retreat into the night before I could decide on the best thing to do and I was struck by the thought that the cycle of violence is equally matched by the cycle of inaction. Again this was written in the middle of the night and I could perhaps enlarge on its theme
