On Zuma Beach, one Christmas Eve,
The movie actress looked longingly
Into her make-up mirror
(Keeping an unblinking eye on herself).
Someone asked her what she wanted for Christmas;
"Yesterday," she replied,
Hoping that decay would never come.

Yesterday... we want it when it is gone. This is a nice one Vagantes. And the title totally covers it :)

Thank you for sharing, Sapphire

I loved the concept, liked how you tied in 'longing' with 'yesterday'.

Very concise and to the point. The message is quite powerful. Kind of sad. Very well written. The immediate image that popped into my head was Faye Dunaway as Joan Crawford in Mommy Dearest as she realizes that she's aging and rapidly declining though she was once on top.

Brevity is most certainly the soul of wit - good job!

But Polonius is the least brief character, an annoying chatterbox!
