Alarm Clock

Covers kicked aside,
Fan overhead,
Ice water beside my bed,
You, standing there, watching me sleep,

I awake, laughing at the drip drip from your fingers,

And you, more surprised than I,
Ready for a fight, fall into my open arms,
Your lips upon my neck,
Surrender to ten minutes more.

That last stanza in particular delighted me with the happy spontaneity of it.

Well, your title fooled me. I was so sure you were going to talk about a "real" alarm clock. For a moment I thought you had a brand which wakens with water  The lips made me abandon that idea though ;)

Very playful... I like poems that gently fool you, and this one works well.

I blushed and clasped my fist to my heart! What an absolutely delightful poem - thank you for sharing, ampoule! I wish my alarm clock were so obliging!
