This is my first post and I have a very special request.

My Mother who is 93 wants to know if anyone can provide her with the name of the poet and the remainder of the following poem:

Ah good painter tell me true
Has your hand the cunning
To paint scenes that you have never seen

Well here is an order for you
Words and cornfields a little brown
The picture must not be over bright
But all in the glow when the summer sun's gone down

I would really appreciate any information regarding this poem.

The words are not quite right but it is the famous poem by Alice Cary called "An Order for a Picture". http://www.librarycompany.org/women/portraits/cary.htm

Thank you so much for your speedy response.

I have now started the process of trying to purchase a copy of the 'Poetical works of Alice and Phoebe Cary'. I cannot tell you what this means to my Mother - she is absolutely delighted. Many thanks!
