Listen to the Rain
Listen to the rain come down outside my windowpane,
There is nothing more refreshing than the rain—
Living in a world of people in denial,
Wrapped up in one belief or another
While the whole world goes to hell.
But the rain falls on the just—
And also upon the unjust
It counts no favors when it comes leaves us all wet when it goes.
Runs down the stained glass windows,
And the filthy ones as well,
Upon the roof of a grand cathedral
To the lowest darkest brothel—
It leaves behind a smell of clean
Though it cannot erase
The bloodstains left by time and tyrants,
What the confessional never hears,
The cries of pain…
Still you gotta love the rain—
The purity of the Lady Rain…
