Beyond the dark,
Is there light?
Beyond the doubt,
Is there hope?
Past the pain,
Is there freedom?
Among the tears,
Is there joy?
What lies beyond these darkened days?
Is there a way to heal to the child of pain?...

This poem causes the reader to think because of the powerful questions presented. I like the factor of mystery it contains. Very nice. Thank you for sharing.

What lies beyond these darkened days?
This makes me think of Hamlet's questions.
To be or not to be, that is the question, whether it is nobler in the mind to suffer...
To die, to sleep, to sleep perchance to dream, aye there's the rub, for in that sleep of death, what dreams may come when we have shuffled off that mortal coil
Hamlet then speaks of the undiscovered country, meaning that he doesn't know what it will be like after we die.
Great poem...

Yes, this is a very good use of rhetorical questions. It's beautiful.

Of course there is hope beyond the pain
Of course day and night come one after another

oh, yes, there is always this, but for the lost, it seems like it will never come.

I agree with Gimmisung, I like the use if the rhetorical question. I was captured by he way you play around with the emotional flow through time.
Among the tears is joy- love that line.
Thanks for sharing.

This poem awakens inevitable anxiety... it's efficient in that, as it also puts one in the vicinity of a mysterious source of acceptance...
