THE PAIN OF HEARTACHE ERE RETURNS
Raymond J Warren
Brisbane April 2009

Did you feel the earth tremble
In the night, as we all slept.
Did you hear the bells ringing
As the hills all heaved and leapt.

Oh God is this our punishment,
Have we all done something wrong?
Why has our world come to an end,
Will this pain continue long?

Can you see the father digging,
His fingers bloodied and torn
Searching for his little girl,
He was there the day she was born.

Saviors are now everywhere,
Their hearts are open wide.
And tears fall in loving care,
For the pain they feel inside.

Millennium have come and gone.
And the earth has moved before.
But the pain of heartache ere returns,
And the mothers cry once more.

The two poems here situated are a heartfelt tribute fot those who are suffering. The Author has seen the horror of bushfire in Australia and knows the feeling that can only be known by those who have suffered this kind of devastation.

ITALY WILL BE THERE
Raymond J Warren
Brisbane 2009

Did you see that earth rolling, along the valley fair
The ancient dust arising, from the beauty that was there?
Did you hear church bells ringing, as the shaking came anew
And the house dogs barking loudly, with the fear they felt too.

Did you hear the earth screaming, like a thunder overhead,
Did you see the buildings littered with the dying and the dead?
Did you see the diggers digging, moving blocks with all their might
Did you watch the searchlights burning in the darkness of the night?

Can you hear the men hard yelling, as they find a new one there,
Can you hear them all grow quiet? There's a child under there!
Do you hear the mother calling as she stands by house alone,
“Where’s my baby have you seen her, I don't care about my home!”

Do you know that sinking feeling of the loss and loneliness,
As you stand before your once proud home and feel the emptiness.
Do you know that heartache, as you sift through breakage there?
Do tears come to your reddened eyes, for the memories stolen there?

Can you hear the deathly cry go up, to meet the dawning sky,
Of fathers with their children gone and a mother's mournful sigh.
And those who search the rubble, for loved ones lying there,
With tear streaks down a dusty face, a broken heart laid bare.

But please don’t worry strongly, there is something you should know,
We can’t bring back your loved ones, or those tokens for to show.
But we can share your pain, for our hearts we now lay bare.
So lay your head upon our breast, for Italy will be there.
