note:The dialogues are meant to be very annoying and exaggerated. Sorry if it's long. Thanks!
In a small quiet town was a calm but curious girl named Curious
One day Curious asked her dear, dowdy mother, "Dear, dowdy mother, Why do people have foes?"
Surprised at the question, the dear and dowdy replied, "My child! I did not have the opportunity to attend school. So why did you ask? To tease me?"
"No..but..."
"Go ask your schoolteacher! She better know the answer or she must give back that fortune she got from me...and your father too."
Her schoolteacher at that time, was a naughty, notorious gambler. You can just imagine what her way of life was.
The very next morning, Curious immediately asked her schoolteacher the same question.
But naughty, notorious schoolteacher was offended. Is her dear, dowdy mother behind this? To humiliate me? I must not give in!, she thought.
"Little miss Curious, you ought to be ashamed of yourself! Your performance in school tells me that if not under the influence of your dear, dowdy madam, you cannot concieve such a question. Am I right? You shan't involve yourself in such vulgar affairs."
"Ma'am, I-"
"Enough! Go to the bishop and ask his help for your Salvation and if you are considerate enough, bring your mother as well."
Left with the choice of the schoolteacher's wrath or half a mile of walk, she chose the latter without hesitation.
She found the bishop sitting alone and thus grabbed the chance to ask the question instead.
"Foolish girl! Why are you troubling yourself with sorrows and painful thoughts such as those. You children ought to have your ears cut off for bearing mature ideas," he exclaimed rudely then he left her.
Disappointed, Curious left the building and found herself in the graveyard. There she found an elderly lady. She inquired the same question.
"Well, we get foes because we did something that doesn't quite agree with the other person's idea. It does not mean we are always wrong but it does not mean we are always right either. Having foes simply meant that we stand up for what we believe in..although not always in the right way. It is not always a bad thing, you know! We often learn from it we-"
Curious embraced the lady and ran to the alley where she and her neighbors were to meet.
"I have an answer," she declared. Then she went on repeating what the lady said as far as her memory can take her.
"I gave the most agreeable answer. You all must pay...the deal remember?"
They each gave her three silver coins. Curious put the coins in her pocket jingling them them as she was walking away.
Let's just say that Curious comprehended the defintion of FOE. Thanks to the lady and her ignorance.
