Yes, friends...
It is that time of the year when we remember the most influential puppets in TV and puppet history.

I was never into the muppets, but from that picture I'd have to say the coolest looking one is the sax player. So I'll go with him. I think his name is Zoot.

Ok, I'll go along with the program here this year. I wanted to be Grover since my son named his invisible friend Grover and then later his huge teddy bear became Grover. He just loved Grover on Sesame St. My avy is Grover singing about springtime!

I love grover, too. I loved when he was the waiter and would bring in the really giant hamburger and mess up the order.

I cry like a baby whenever I watch that one! My friend was watching it with me, and we were only midway through, and I already was bawling. *sigh*
My owl is from Labyrinth. ^^; It's not Muppets, but it is Jim Henson, and owlJareth is indeed a muppet.

That was a riot! Thanks so much, motherhubbard. I am not sure if I saw that one before - been many years since my son was young enough for Sesame St. Now in a few years, it will be for my grand-daughter's favorite show. I think she already has a Grover stuffed Muppet. :)

The Swedish Chef for me, seeing as we danes have no more fun than when we are ridiculing our neighbours. No offence Claes and co. I love swedes and Sweden. :)

I love Beaker :D
Beaker would be blown up, electrocuted, eaten by large monsters, or lose body parts. Beaker can only communicate in a nervous, high-pitched squeak that sounds like "Mee-mee-mee mee!"

Did you know the creatures in Labyrinth were designed by Brian Froud for Jim Henson? He even designed Bowies image for the movie.

Btw: There is but one Swede among the muppets, and I never understood why he persists in speaking Danish. ;)

Muppets Christmas carol is the bees knees!!
Niamh, I have heard that old expression 'bees knees' in a film and wondered what it means exactly or how it came to be? Is it common over there? Just curious.
Did you know the creatures in Labyrinth were designed by Brian Froud for Jim Henson? He even designed Bowies image for the movie.
Beaker rules!!!
I think I knew that about Brian Froud. He certainly was creative and very versatile. I love his work.
I love all of your avies. I love yours Claes; that one fits you to a T. How funny that he actually spoke Danish. Maybe that is the joke. Papayahed, I think yours is very funny. I love your 'Miss Piggy' - MissScarlett. That really suits you. I love the gown with the denim jacket thrown carelessly over one shoulder. Niamh, yours suits you, too. Scher, yours makes me laugh. I wondered who would be Kermit....cool how it shows only part of his face. Gosh, they are all great fun! When does the party begin?

I think it's because of the rhyme ... I should go search it. I still don't have a dictionary of English Etymology, though.~
[you'll probably find it in a dictionary of expressions ...]

ok, was never a real fan of the muppets, had been going to use a vampire character I remember but he was apparently sesame street & not the muppets. I believe this characters name is "uncle matt" thats as much as I know.
I watched sensible shows like He-man growing up
EDIT**Apparently this is a fraggle

I recently saw an episode of the Muppets in which Alice Cooper tried to get the Muppers to sell their souls to the devil. That is friggin' awesome.
