Happy birthday, Fool! :)

An interview with Imthefoolonthehill:

Are you sure you want to do this?
Not really.

Are you male or female?
Male

How did you come about this site and what makes you keep coming back?
I was seeing what other people wrote about 1984 and Brave New World for a paper I wrote as a sophomore in High school. I kept coming back because the web site was much closer than the library, and it had most of what I wanted to read.

Are you happy with the way things are here?
I don't know.

Have you visited other countries than your own and what did you like about it or not like? If you could live somewhere different from where you live now, where would it be and why?
I've been to Switzerland, Canada, Germany, and France, and I liked them in that order. If I could live somewhere different, it would probably be in Alaska. Their laws are less restrictive. The government doesn't interfere as much with everyday lives.

Do you have any pets?
I do. My cat, precious is living with my parents way back home. My dog, whom I have posted pictures of on this forum, has recently passed away.

What makes you happy?
early morning oranges and nape of neck kisses.

What is mankind's biggest achievement, and its greatest downfall? Mankind's biggest achievements are yet to come. We will, in the next decade build a space elevator that will be the most incredible thing ever built. I am good friends with someone who is helping nasa design part of it. Also, as a species, we are acheiving God like power. I believe that we will soon be able to give sight to the blind, hearing to the deaf, and to create life in our own image. Mankind's biggest downfall is that we have all of our eggs in one basket. This big beautiful thing called the earth. If this place blows, our species is done. We need to change that.

If you had a long day of hard work ahead of you what music would you be playing on your mp3, while working?
I organize my playlists by emotion. I have an angry playlist, a manic playlist, and a happy playlist. While working, I usually play the manic playlist. On it are bands like the Yeah yeah Yeahs, the Weakerthans, and the Decemberists

If you could take one book, music album and one video with you to a desert island, what would they be?
I'd take the largest book I could for fire starting material.

Do you feel comfortable in your walk with God?
I don't believe in God.

Which actor should play you in a movie based on your life?
Kevin Spacey.

Giventhe option, what animal would you choose to be?
I would like to rule as a hawk among lesser birds.

What were your favorite things to do the past? What about now?
I love to find out how things work. I love to read, and to play strategy games.

What makes you feel great about yourself?
These days, it seems like not too many things. But making people smile always feels good. Also, winning feels good. The few times someone has respected and trusted me enough to cast their lot with me has felt pretty dang good.

Who inspires you most? (Anyone you know or not. Family, friends, authors, artists, leaders, etc.) Which qualities inspire you, in each person?
I am inspired by Thomas Jefferson, who promised, "Eternal hostility against every tyranny over the mind of man".

What are you naturally good at? (Skills, abilities, gifts etc.)
I am pretty good at strategy games. I'm not sure if I treat life as a game or if I treat games as real life... but I don't know the meaning of soft-ball. I am also very good at reading people, and pretty darn good at manipulating people. Really, the only thing I can't seem to get people to do is to like me.

If you had to teach something, what would you teach?
Mathematics.

What would you regret not fully doing, being or having in your life?I would regret never marrying or having kids. I would also regret the death of my many ambitions.

What song is in your head at the moment?
Mushaboom by Feist

Which book are you reading at the moment?
Here Beneath Low-Flying Planes. Absolutely AMAZING. I think I have a crush on Merril Feitell.

The last book you finished reading?
Fight Club (again)

Favorite food?/ Comfort food?
I love steak. The only thing better than meat is meat you have killed yourself. My favorite comfort food is gummy bears. They are virgins who sacrifice themselves to a religion of me.

What time of day do you most often find yourself on the LitNet? 3-4 AM

What are you wearing at the moment?
Sweatpants and a t-shirt

Favorite poem?
I have many favorites, so I'll just state the one I quote the most. The Love Song of J.Alfred Prufrock.

First novel you remember reading on your own?
Left Behind

Favorite TV shows?
Brotherhood, Band of Brothers, 24, Dead Like Me

Which LitNet members would you like to meet in person if you could? They know who they are.

Favorite thread?
My oh, noetry is my favorite one right now... just because it is a bit of an outlet for me right now.

Last food did you have?
Spicy Chicken Sandwich from Jack in the Box

Last words you said out loud?
not repeatable on Litnetwork

Last person you hugged/kissed?
Can't remember. Last person I kissed would be ex-girlfriend. It's been a year and a half.

What do you do (for a living) to be able to keep your LitNet addiction going? And are you happy with your chosen profession? I am a student about to graduate from college. I'll be going into law, hopefully.

What would you like to be if you could change your profession? Astronaught/Nasa Scientist

Least favorite book/song/movie?
Crime and Punishment/I'm on a Boat/Superbad

The most generous thing you have done?
if you get credit for it, it is no longer really that generous.

What is your most outstanding feature?
I have a large beard, giant glasses, and a receding hair line that have recently caused people to believe I am twice my age. This does not make me happy.

If you could change one thing about the way you look, what would that be?
I'd lose about 50 lbs.

Which book do you wish you had written?
Any one of many I can't seem to finish.

What is your favorite book cover?
My number theory book.

Most favorite characters from books?
I really enjoy Pip and Estella from Great Expectations.

What should you be doing at the moment instead of answering these questions?
Sleeping

The most embarrassing moment in your life?
crying to keep a job. I succeeded. Then got embarrassed thinking about it, then got mad, then quit.

Which literary character (s) have you been told to resemble the most? Lately, people have been telling me I resemble Rorshrack or the Comedian from Watchmen.

List some of the things that annoy you immensely.
Stupid people, things stupid people do.

Anything that you want to forget but you never can?
Yep.

Tell us about some amusing translation mistake you have heard or made yourself.
I had to explain what Arnold Schwarzenegger was talking about in kindergarten cop when he is talking about gender differences in genitalia.

If you had to lose one of your senses, which would you choose and why?
I would choose taste, because I rely on everything else more.

What’s the first thing you’ll do in an embarrassing situation?
I'm not usually embarrassed. In fact, it is usually everyone else who is. Usually, I'm the one laughing.

Are you mostly happy with life or are you still in pursuit?
In pursuit.

What type of Faerie would you like to be and why?
If there is a Chuck Norris Faerie, I think I'll be that one, because it sounds the manliest.

What makes you laugh?
Most everything.

What was the happiest period of your life and why?
I'm happiest when in love, because that's when I get the best natural brain drugs.

What would you like to ask to the person to be interviewed after you?
Why are we doing this interview thing?

Pensive

Thanks everyone!

I am feeling great. This year, for my birthday, I got the girl of my dreams. And my friends all got arrested for kidnapping. ... I probably should have told those stories separately

:-D
I couldn't resist telling that joke... which is not mine... it appeared on www.asofterworld.com a while back.

On a further note, I actually did get a pretty sweet present: I got accepted into law school. :-D So, thanks for all the well-wishes!

Wow fool on the hill I never realized we had a few things in common:

If I could live somewhere different, it would probably be in Alaska. Their laws are less restrictive. The government doesn't interfere as much with everyday lives.
Yeah I hear ya. I know that feeling very well.

What would you like to be if you could change your profession? Astronaught/Nasa Scientist

Well, it was a fine interview. I had not realized until I just noticed how long you have been on lit net. It was a pleasure knowing more about you. Congratualtions on graduating and best of luck in law school.
