View Full Version : Movies.
This really does embody what people mean when they say General Chat is filled with a lot of useless threads
BUT they are fun and quite important at times.
Ahem, and if Papaya can create a thread on M&M's, I can create a thread on this.
I have my collection of movies in front of me, all lined up, and I need one to watch whilst i do my little sketches.
Help me decide. They are as follows:
Death Proof
Equilibrium
Pavement
Arabian Nights
The Fountain
Zodiac
Pride and Prejudice
Cashback
Dark Knight
Batman Begins
Chronicles of Riddick
Zoolander
The Virgin Suicides
Brick
The Matrix 1,2,3 + animatrix
American Psycho
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
Twilight
Shaun of the Dead
Dawn of the Dead
28 Weeks later
Requiem for a Dream
300
The Blair Witch Project
Matilda
Harry Potter 1,2,3,4
American History X
:D
Also, i'd like to add that i yes, have seen them all

Pride and Prejudice. :)
or Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind, if it is good. I don't know I haven't seen it. Or 28 Weeks Later if it is good. I loved the first one but I haven't seen 28 weeks yet. Or Matilda. You see I am not good at helping you decide. :p

P&P or American Psycho
or Eternal Sunshine
Yeah, I'm not good at choosing either. What I watch depends on my mood, and seeing as I don't know what sort of mood you're in, I have no idea what to recommend! :(
However- there are a ton of great sites online that you can stream movies from if there's something you want to watch that you don't have. And it's all legal, which is always a bonus for the soul-conscious types :D. I'd be more than happy to provide sites for you...
Aww thank you CC but i dunno, i'm in the mood for all the movies i listed so it's hard to choose.
I'm gonna re read The Virgin Suicides soon so i might put the movie off till i do. I just don't know. Cashback is my absolute favourite movie there and if you haven't, watch the trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NeYLZtHCt0I
But i watched that the other night. So i'm in a bit of a muddle.

That's a book, right? and no i haven't

yes, and the book is better and worse than the movie. But it's one of my favourite films and strikes me as something you'd like for some reason. The first time I saw it I did not take my eyes of the screen the whole time and sat there in silence for a while after. It hit me hard.
Does she end up back with her mummy? I feel bad for her.
And i'm getting the novel now, thanks to you CC haha.
K CC watch Cashback + this movie here, maybe you've seen or read the book:

Prozac Nation is also very good

I've been meaning to watch Girl, INterrupted for ages and never thought about it whenever I was choosing something to watch! Thanks for the reminder!
And no! You have to watch the movie first!

Good movie, *Classic*. I have the book here but haven't read it yet.
"The Virgin Suicides" is a good film on a similar mood. If you like intrigue you will like both, Limajean.
Oh i've seen The Virgin Suicides many times - love it. I was just gonna re read the book then watch it after, or else i'd be put off the book :D
The Virgin Suicides, Girl Interrupted, Prozac Nation and White Oleander i'm thinking all share similar themes

And I call myself a movie watcher
Either way, W.O. is a fast read. Let me know when you're done and we'll chat!!
Good luck picking!!

This really does embody what people mean when they say General Chat is filled with a lot of useless threads
However noone got enthusiastic about my thread, I believe you aren't talking about it :roll~.
I have my collection of movies in front of me, all lined up, and I need one to watch whilst i do [a little unimportant something]
This is particularly funny ...
Right, lets go:
Death Proof don't know
Equilibrium don't know
Pavement don't know
Arabian Nights don't know ... which version?
The Fountain don't know
Zodiac please, no!
Pride and Prejudice which one? this last one? I don't know~
Cashback don't know
Dark Knight good one
Batman Begins nah, not so good
Chronicles of Riddick blah ... why not? but, no ... better not; unless you're ... destructive
Zoolander don't know
The Virgin Suicides don't know ... doesn't sound healthy
Brick don't know
The Matrix 1,2,3 + animatrix please, don't!
American Psycho don't know
Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind don't know
Twilight I would not~
Shaun of the Dead don't know
Dawn of the Dead don't know
28 Weeks later don't know
Requiem for a Dream sounds familiar ... what ist it about again?
300 ABSOLUTELY NOT!!
The Blair Witch Project no!
Matilda don't know
Harry Potter 1,2,3,4 only the third~
American History X don't know
Which means I'm probably not your best company to watch movies; I'd go to nearest blockbuster ...
Hope to have helped, anyway :thumbs_up

Brick pawns any of these, except maybe Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind.

Help me decide.Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is my favorite chick flick ever. It's a great movie, chick flick or not. I was going to say you should pick that to watch, but then again I think you should save it for a time when you can watch without the distraction of sketches.
Zoolander is hilarious. I'm afraid you'll be cracking up so hard you won't get much sketching done.
I guess Batman Begins is a pretty good watch-while-you're-doing-something-else movie.
Happy movie watching and sketching! :)

Watching movies while doing something else - I am a big fan of multitasking like that :) Though I have to say sometimes the one does effect the other  If you get caught up too much in the movie, you forget all about what you're doing.
But I guess it helps that you've seen them all before.
Ok, lets follow Tim's example:
Death Proof No idea
Equilibrium if you've only seen it once, it might be confusing to watch without following completely. I do not remember much about it, but I thought it did not have much colour in it...
Pavement No idea
Arabian Nights No idea. Anything to do with 1001 Arabian Nights?
The Fountain Wonderful movie :) Many nice scenes. If you're sketching, you might even get some inspiration from it ;)
Zodiac Nice one, especially when you have an excuse to occasionally look away :p
Pride and Prejudice Well, if you are doing something that has to do with history and costumes - this might be a good one to watch while you're doing it...
Cashback no idea
Dark Knight Grand!
Batman Begins A bit boring at times...
Chronicles of Riddick no idea
Zoolander Sounds familiar, but I do not think I've seen it
The Virgin Suicides Nice
Brick no idea
The Matrix 1,2,3 + animatrix Good movies to see only parts of - the whole stuff gets boring in the long run ...
American Psycho Awesome!
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind Agreeing with BlueVictim here: just watch it without the distractions :p
Twilight Not sure, but what I've seen in the trailers it might be interesting to watch it while sketching. I would focus more on the sketches than on the movie though...
Shaun of the Dead  Just plain fun :) Might not be able to combine it, as you could burst into a fit of laughter every second ...
Dawn of the Dead Original or remake?
28 Weeks later A bit of a downer... want to draw sad sketches?
Requiem for a Dream Such nice music :) Might be very nice to have it on the background
300 Wonderful images... Based on comics, so maybe you could try to draw that style while watching?
The Blair Witch Project Spooky
Matilda Sweet
Harry Potter 1,2,3,4 Same as the matrix
American History X ... still a bit confused by it all...
So, really no idea what you should do  Just enjoy it all, I guess ;)

I love Zoolander :D. And Requiem For A Dream. We used Lux Aeterna at the start of our production of A Midsummer Night's Dream. For some reason I kept thinking you had the Resident Evil movies in there.

I wouldn't recommend watching Requiem for a Dream "just to pass the time", so to speak. I don't see it as the type. Great movie, though.
I'd go with American Psycho, it always makes me laugh. :D

Either of your Batman movies, any of your Harry Potter movies, or 300.

I really enjoyed "Reservoir Dogs" and most other Quesntin Tarantino movies. I really liked how all of the different personalities and quirks of the different characters clashed just perfectly. It was very dramatic but it had some good action scenes as well.
Some other directors that I really enjoy are Stanley Kubrick and The Coen Brothers.
