I'm writing an essay on the linguistic relativity hypothesis and found this very suitable quote by Voltaire:
"It is as impossible to translate poetry as it is to translate music"
However I haven't been able to figure out whether this is something he said or wrote or perhaps didn't have anything to do with at all and I would prefer it if I could use a correct reference, if possible. Of course, I could just suggest that this is something he supposedly said, but it is a part of my argument so if anyone could please help me with the origin of this quote I would very much appreciate it.
