I've just started PhD work on the novels of Iris Murdoch and wanted to get an idea of what other people think of her novels, and find out what reactions people had. Feel free to talk about anything to do with Murdoch, things that frustrate you, things you love/hate. Anything you like.
For example what is your favourite of her novels and why? I have several favourites ranging from The Flight from the Enchanter to The Black Prince to The Green Knight. I love her magical imagery, her clever weaving of philosophy and narrative, and so many other things.
On the flip side there are also novels that I really can't stand. Are there any that you really hated, and why?
Or any characters that you found particularly annoying, or particularly brilliant?
Talk amongst yourselves I'm really interested in your opinions.
