The title says it all. What's your big pet peeve?

People who say they hate mushrooms and refuse to eat them and pick them them out of their spaghetti like a four-year old child. Seriously, just eat it.

It makes no sense to say "I could care less"! That statement means that it is possible for you to care less, meaning that you at least care a little. What you really mean to say is, "I couldn't care less". I'm sure it is crystal clear to you now, but you could care less about what I have to say.

Bad table manners and the noises people make when they eat. Gross.

Any of these should qualify as my biggest pet peeve:
When people constantly tell you how proud they are of something (especially when they mention something that isn't even done by them).
When people speak of killings very easily, when they justify killing some of the human-beings (abortion included, though of course you can always argue about how much the fetus has developed until a certain stage).
When people speak in a self-assured-matter-of-fact manner who is a 'better' human-being.
When people say goodbye in a rude/just dry manner. I believe it's better to part on friendly basis, who knows you get to meet tomorrow or not.

The blame culture. Sometimes things just go wrong, nobody's fault, it happens.

People who dawdle in front of you and suddenly stop when you're walking behind them :flare:. This is particularly annoying in a crowded shopping centre or high street, when you just want to get past.
Rude people.
Intolerant people.
Actually, I sound like that moaning about dawdlers don't I?

Seconded.
Also; people who assume that the clerk in the store is not a person with a life who has good days and bad days too.
When people shout "Hey you, why hasn't this got a price tag" when what they really should be saying was "Excuse me, could you tell me how much this costs".
When people hate what they don't understand.
Ignorance and the hypocrisy of people who push their beliefs on to others to the point we're choking on their nonsensical garbage.

Agreed!
Also, people who don't tidy up after themselves (especially if you have to live or work with them!).

I walk pretty fast, and indeed, slow moving people who are minding their own business of window shopping... And old women with their little luggages for carrying suplies in, and little children in groups that fall around all over the place. I'm a pedestrian and I demand my racing space!
I'm a horrible person... :)

People who walk slow.
People who ask you questions the moment you put food in your mouth.
People who ask you questions they KNOW you will not have the answer to.
People who sneeze and don't cover their mouths and/or turn away.

Yeah, I hate this too. Especially in narrow school halls when people walk in horizontal lines really slowly and almost make you late for class.
People who don't shut up. They talk for too long and go off on boring tangents and I can't really do much about it. Or when they talk to me in class and I get scolded for it. They're usually nice people, and sometimes they're my own friends, but it annoys me to no end.
People who are of the ignorant mindset that they need to "protect" their beliefs. If your beliefs need protecting then they probably aren't that strong to begin with.
People who insult you then follow up with "just kidding." If you're going to insult me then go ahead, just don't assume I'm dumb enough to believe you were kidding when you only said that out of your own cowardice. And I'm not talking about harmless teasing between friends -- there's a distinction.
When your dentist tries speaking to you as he's prying a tooth out or sticking in some large metal thing to hold your mouth open while he drills whatnots in to your teeth and all you can do is dribble in response to his babble!

what about people who pick them out, but eat them separately? Still four-year-olds?

Oh, and I think mine is people putting cereal boxes back in the cupboard when there are only about 4 pieces of cereal left in it...

people who talk with their mouth open, or chew with their mouth open, making that smacking sound.
I hate it when someone yawns and does not cover his or her mouth.
When people act like gluttons, and scarf down huge amounts of greasy, fattening food, all the while sipping a milkshake.
When someone takes forever to say something/get to the point.
When someone is late. I am really punctual and I can't stand it when people are consistently late.
And.... I would agree with some of the other litnetters about the dawdling people/people that walk really slowly in front of you, or zig zag... or take up the entire sidewalk, making it almost impossible to pass them.
(the list goes on. I am an irritable, dyspeptic person usually)

Living in our present wonderfully liberated society is the cause of many "peeves" for the civilised individual. However, as the thread has asked for the biggest peeve, I would say it is those creatures who put there feet on public transport seats, but even more so, the 'Oh so tolerant' fools who put notices to deter such animalistic behaviour which state " Please(?) don't put feet on seats" instead of 'If you put your feet on seats, you WILL be prosecuted.' With the current avaiability of CCTV it would easily be possible to provide evidence in court if someone were guilty.
