Hi there.
I need to formulate a thesis, but I don’t really know what topic I should choose .
I like modern and postmodern literature . my favorite writers are Kafka , Hemingway and some others . Actually I prefer to concentrate on one of these writers , but I don’t know I should focus on which aspect of their novels.
Really need your help.
All suggestions are welcome! :)

Wow. lol
Your question's like asking for water in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. You gotta at least narrow it down for us, what do you want to talk about?

Maybe surrealism in Kafka? Hemingway's relevance to America and part in American literature?

To be honest, and I'm speaking from experience here, you need to come up with something for yourself because it must be a topic or an aspect that you are truly interested in pursuing. If I were you, I'd think up two or three very basic, but workable ideas, and then go an have a chat with your tutors and ask their opinions as to what sort of academic mileage they have.
Anyway, best of luck! I hope it all goes well!

Sounds like good advice. Actually I've got to get thinking along the same lines myself after I get the essays and exams out of the way and mine's even vaguer at the moment. Maybe something about Wordsworth or Wilde, possibly even Milton, but I know much more about the context of the 18th century so I'll probably stick to that? Surely I can't get away with nature in Wordsworth???

Thank you all …
Actually I like to focus on Hemingway's philosophy of life , that is naturalism but I don’t know how to narrow it down . I know that I should focus on some specific details in Hemingway's naturalism .
In addition I like to focus on kafka's attitude toward modern and industrial society. I think that "The castle " , " The Trial " , and " Amerika " are closer to Expressionism , it seems that Surrealism has no place in these novels but in " Metamorphosis ". please correct me if I'm wrong.
In short I want you to narrow it down for me I don’t really know how to start.
Also I want you to introduce me some references about these topics .
Thank you so much !

Kafka I know, Hemingway I don't :D
Maybe talk about how Kafka and related works discuss the alienation of the individual and the supression of emotion in developed countries?
