This piece was inspired by the Waltz, which I've had the privilege of dancing. I intended its rhythm to be reminiscent of the timing of the dance, not sure if it works :)

Waltz the Rose (http://thinkingcities.blogspot.com/2009/03/waltz-rose.html)

Dance for your heart as she
Sways to your rhythmn: two
Steps as you move to a
Promenade pose.

Walk with your lady, your
Follower, partner, both
Poised and both strong and you
Holding her close.

Glide down the ballroom as
Chandeliers gaze, at the
Moment's romance with your
Lady-red rose.

Finally end as the
Violin-strain fades, and the
Couples all posing
Oversway holds.

Do you kiss her in the end at least?! :p

I see this poem.

These lines really really nice:

Violin-strain fades, and the
Couples all posing
Oversway holds.

Thanks, Sam.

Nah, kissing wasn't part of the routine :)

So you've danced the Waltz too?

Kissing kills the seduction of any dance. It's the movement toward the kiss that counts. :p

I was invited to a masquerade party once. Waltzing, mambo, tango, the twist, polka, you name it. Fun fun.

I must have missed this one, but oh god, not only is it wonderfully written! The rhythm - it really does feel like a waltz! And...

...I suppose the thing that touches me most is the subject. I went to a "ball" once - not a REAL one, but... yeah. Memories. ^^; Thank you for this.
