My Aunt just told me that I need to start reading Norah Roberts, but I checked out the first book she recomended and just couldn't get into it... Does anyone have any suggestions on any of her books that would be good? It was Truly Madly Manhattan.

Do you mean Nora Roberts? I read a series of hers that's set in the future about a cop named Eve Dallas. The first one is "Born in Death;" they all have 'in Death' in the title. I enjoy them. They're not great literature, but they are a good read.
I hear they are all formulaic, so just grab any of them, though I've also heard "she" doesn't write all the books she writes, so there may be that.

Well since last time I looked she published well over 100 books in 30 years I wouldnt be suprised if she duidnt write them all, now the thing I like about recomneding Nora roberts to customers is while formulaic ( almost always element of romance and always a happy ending) there is enough of them and enough mninor variations to keep ost people amused if they like her for a good long while, my mum has been reading her for 2 or 3 years now.
Truly madly manhatten if I rember is a duop of two much older pure romances, its republish Harlequin Mills and boons if Im right. You might want to try some of the newer ones . the JD Robb books ( her other writing name) are futueristic dective stories all the tilte s have In death in them the main charcter is Eve dallas, the first three work as a trilogy after that I think you cant pretty much dip in and out. The first one has a purpleish flower on it.
she recently wrote a trilogy with vampoires and such in it, first book is called Moriggans Cross , its white with blue butterfly on it.
last years trilogy, was to do with somekind of demon possesion thing first one was called Blood brothers.
They are reprinting most of her old books so I think at the momnet there a book out a month, and brand new one out every 3-4.
I think The newest seroies or one off should be due soonish. I think they arrive in middle of april.
But unless you like romances I wouldnt really reccomend them, becuase that is what they are, but alot of people enjoy them..:D

Did anyone hear about the affair between Leann Rimes and Eddie Cibrian on the set of Lifetime's Northern Lights Movie? Makes me actually think about tuning in tomorrow night to check out the movie.

I saw Northern Lights last saturday while I was flipping through the channels, but I have to say that it doesn't look like the best of the nora roberts collection thing that they're doing.

Agreed, I think High Noon will be the best, because I loooove Lost! and Claire from Lost is the star.

Honestly, I was real disappointed with Claire (Emilie De Ravan's) performance this weekend. It wasn't terrible, but definitely not the best of the series.

I dont know why but I cannot get into any books of that genre. I can pracitcally write it out myself after the first chapter. And somehow they seem so overdone, or underdone, or ..I just dont' get them

I'm not a romance person so haven't read any of her stuff, but I have a couple of friends who are really into her "in death" series, as well as her more suspenseful romances and the fantasy/magic ones she's written. If I recall correctly, she sued (successfully) another writer some years back for plagarism.

Well that is interesting. That would probably make a great story, perhaps better than the ones she writes. :)

Hahaha that is interesting....and you might be right about her books. However, the movies about her books are great because of the cast, they have the perfect men!!! Ivan Sergei..hot and the new movie Tribute has the hunky blond guy from Sex and the City. I psyched to watch it. LOL.

I cant wait to see her book Tribute come to life tomorrow night, Jason Lewis was a great choice to play Ford Sawyer, and hes just so nice to look at. Also I think Brittany Murphy is the perfect person to play Cilla McGowan, check it out...

oh under, you are a hoot. I am out of the loop, I don't watch television anymore, have no time. I will view a dvd once in a while if I can manage, but honestly the days seem a blur.
So I don't know about your hunks or chunks or anyone like that. I am too busy with study and , man I never knew how much time just visiting Mr. bathroom takes in a day, not since my surgery at least. :).
I was listening to others talking about this show and that show a while ago and thought'this is like visiting another country or perhaps planet and trying to get the gist of everything.
I remember as a child visiting the country and my country relatives in the summers and they never watched their television and I remember thinking how they actually lived instead of watching others fake live. It's so much easier watching others fake live, right? :)

If you're not a big fan of genre Romance, try her as J.D. Robb. Naked in Death is the first of a multibook Police Procedural series.
Sea Swept and Dance Upon the Air are the first book of a four-book contemporary series and a three-book series with fantasy elements respectively. Some of her best work.
