Hi there,
Without much preamble, these are the questions;
1: Attempt to give a critical overview of the historical, economic, philosophical and cultural factors which gave rise to European novel as a specific style and practice of writing.
2: Attempt to give a critical overview of the key formal and stylistic features of the novel as a distinct literary form.
I'm please patiently waiting for your responses. What am looking for isn't really book but site links. But if its book(s) I get, not too bad. I can and will manage looking for it/them. Thank you very much.

Good luck. For 1) you will have to look at the period during which prose romances were written and consider the cultures of those times. You will also have to consider the period during which both novels and romances were being written. That means that you will have to consider the culture, economy of a large region over several centuries. I think that your topic is much too broad.
It might be possible to write something reasonable in response to 2.

Well, I recommend that you obtain the two volumes of Norton Anthology of English Literature. Since I am studying them, I assure you that by reading throughly from the Restoration Period till the 19th century, or the Victorian Age, will enrich you and definetly provide you with many info. Good Luck!
