When Man Danced the Spiral
Fires burn to the midnight sky
as they dance the spiral
people of a distant plane
in lands far away
disappeared through time.
When the Gods were wise
before they began to preach
of hate and righteous wrong
with holy war and divine justice.
When men sought to find
the center and souls collide
to seek the one where
love and hate dissolve.
Man stood naked and alone
but without fear where the
fire burned inside.
And far across the sea
man danced within the rain
and they were free
free to be happy in their natural state.
Free of feeling shame
free to love beneath the moon
for man to take comfort in woman
without guilt.
Before they were led to believe
that others may be better than they are
that their Gods were without value.
Before man knew he could
persecute another for
praying in the woods and
still talking with the trees.
When man was not ripped
from the womb of the Earth
and did not know one life
may be worth less than another.
They were told if they abandoned
their old rites there would be new hope
that wars would stop, blood no longer shed
and greater reward gained.
Not only were they deceived
and their brothers still violently died
for reasons no longer their own
but they were made slaves
and lost so much more than
can ever be repaid.
