And on the eighth day
God created the middle class
and sent it forth
to judge the world
and to find it
far, alas, far from perfect!
And on the ninth day
God created
the children of the middle class...

Wonderful! I smirked and snickered at first glance and left with a smile on finishing. :) That last part reminds me of the Chinese Cultural Revolution , where the children chide their parents for not living up to Mao's message. The poem does not have this though, but this was where it brought me.
Thanks.

But my dear friend and so intelligent reader, although I didn't have the CCR children in mind that is precisely the sort of thing I meant.

I love your humor, esp. since verse w. political themes often sound shrill.
And on the tenth day, He invented SUVs and pink flamingos.

You are at your best with these gems. I couldn't help thinking how perfect is this accounting. A sort of print degeneration.
Now, I await the reckoning of the children's children, which is at hand. I do believe retro has put us in their favor. :D

But on what glorious day was it, I wonder, that God created loving friendships? Or was that left to we mortals to do that out of the best that God had given us?

T'was on the Tenth Day
that friendships circled mankind
and linked the hearts
such that rust nor rot
could ever destroy

:) More like a tromping stomping in reader, who says the first thing that sparks in his head, sometimes very silly things, but thanks a lot. I'm glad I got the message this time.
