Life's Travelogue
mazHur
what makes your hair stand
on your head
is the thought of life
and living on;
the urge to get clear of the traffic
on a congested street;
the desire to go back home
after a days work
to prepare for tomorrow's wages
for keeping the wheel of life going;
the feeling to save your life
from falling in a ravine,
a fjord, a mountain, a ditch;
life is dear to all
and why it shouldn't be?
Who has seen tomorrow?
Who knows what goes on in the other world?
Once gone none has returned to narrate
the story of life beyond life;
but those who wait for their turn
hold tight to life
lest they meet the angel of death;
(whom they are destined to meet one day)
it may not be the fear of death
that keeps your hair stand on your head;
it is the uncertainty of staying alive
that keeps one moving
unconsciously
into the arms of death,
finally.
