Jealousy

You praise him.
“He is great,” you say.
“He makes me happy.
I go to him for help, too”
You remind me.
My love,
I hate him---
Plain and simple.

You play games,
joking about laying
in the same bed as he.
Where's the humor?
Are you amused, my love?
I am not.

What I would do
if you would permit me
just a meeting---
one solitary meeting---
with him!

But I am loyal
and kind
and loving---

and jealous.

Shhh. We Upstaters never admit we're jealous, Dor...We find the way to win the girl. :D

The poem held my interest. Nice.

It's simply stated and clever, with words that hit home. :) I particularly like the reactions to her words.

...but, why 'he' here, if the rest of the poem is pretty colloquial?

You play games,
joking about laying
in the same bed as he.

Good question. :D
Seems like my English teacher succeeded in drilling that into my head. :p

(Thanks! by the way. :))
