I remember passers-by
With skin stretched thin
And tight
On faces filled with stress
That bleed
Where life and death has left
An imprint of the pain
In forgotten obligation
Marked by furrowed channel cracks
That now surround lavish lips
Fractured funnels clash
With chicken-tracks that run
Around their mouths
Down under cracked old brows
Red-threads unravel
Clothes exposed somehow
Like a dream no longer dreamed
Or a hope no longer hoped
And the plans no longer made
Or remembered
As tomorrows slip and fade
Obscenely under hue and shade
A Mah Jong puzzle-piece of Lavender
Unrealized
In broken little lives
I can read rich history
In their rush to hurry by;
Such a sad reality
The life and death marked their eyes;
I remember passers-by
With skin stretched thin
And tight
On faces filled with stress
That bleed
Where life and death has left
An imprint of the pain
In forgotten obligation
Marked by furrowed channel cracks
That now surround lavish lips
Fractured funnels clash
With chicken-tracks that run
Around their mouths
Down under cracked old brows
Red-threads unravel
Clothes exposed somehow
Like a dream no longer dreamed
Or a hope no longer hoped
And the plans no longer made
Or remembered
As tomorrows slip and fade
Obscenely under hue and shade
A Mah Jong puzzle-piece of Lavender
Unrealized
In broken little lives
I can read rich history
In their rush to hurry by;
Such a sad reality
The life and death marked their eyes;
