one thousand and one stars blink
for one thousand and one Arabian nights,
each filled with sand
and howls
and eyes
and djinn.

time drops like each grain
through the
eternity glass.

ever watching,
their chains clank
and groan
attached to desolate
sand-worn rocks in a
bottomless orange night.
