Yesterday I found this wonderful site when I wanted to find Emily Dickenson's "Hope is the thing with feathers" to send a friend.
I was delighted to find it quickly and easily. But as I re-read it, I thought:
Hmm. I know it (beginning of 3rd verse) not as "I've heard it in the chilliest land," but as "the chillest land." Hmm.
I checked my Dickinson Collected Poems, which does show "chillest," but after a thorough read of I'm going to go to the Dickenson Forum to see what others say - but after a thorough read of the Introduction and three Prefaces. Mine is a reprint of the original edition.
Cheers! I'm delighted to be here.
