I know this is a long shot and I recognize the quote is rather obscure, but I've been wracking my brain for weeks trying to recall the quote.
The quote in question is an existential musing of Leland Stamper. I believe he's in his bed, smoking, and may have been writing to Peters. I believe the quote takes place in the first third of the book. And the haunting line that keeps rolling around in my mind ends with realizing life is "...so much dust".
Once again I realize the difficulty of placing this quote given the limited information, but I figured I'd toss it out there and see if anyone could help.
