Lifesong II
What is life
If all I can expect in the end
Is a grassy plot six foot by three
In a grove of oaks that whisper in the night
About the ones that sleep beneath their roots
And an engraved stone
That time will slowly erase until it is gone
Memories of me will fade
Like sunlight at the close of the day
Until all I am or was will be gone
A flower quickly fading
Here today and gone tomorrow
A wave tossed in the ocean of existence
A vapor in the wind
Will you remember me?
