Dawn Parade with Willy

At the top of this morning
wee Willy was more awake than I was
perhaps he had been taking iron supplements
or thought he was a soldier on dawn parade
or, head tilted back,
wanted to watch the stars through the bathroom skylight
but anyway, he stood up proudly
and despite my demands
and protestations,
wouldn't sit down and relax.
So, though I was tired
I had to stand on my head
to take a pee.
