Okay, so my AP Language class focuses on style and rhetoric so much of the time that I guess this came to my mind while dazing off.

1. Describe 2 style choices particular to one author. KEY, distinguishable style choices. Style as in, HOW that author achieves his purpose (literary devices) and WHAT he writes about (themes etc.)
2. Add a time period during which his writing was prominent and his nationality.
3. Next poster guesses the author referred to in the above post and posts his own description.

Example of a post:

Vivid imagery of California scenery notable for personification of "the land."
Religious themes and allusions, especially in novel titles.

Prominent during - Mid 20th century; American author

Answer - John Steinbeck

You can describe the same authors, as long as your description is different from that of others. The point of this is to distinguish the voice and style of great writers based on what jumps out at you most. Might be somewhat tedious, but I think some people won't mind this. =p

Okay so first one:

Weaves spectacular and complex parallel structure; more so than that of his fellow 19th century writers.
Addresses the plight of then heavily discriminated people in America.

Prominent in the mid-19th century; American author
