“Don’t!” says my IR (Inner Rabbi).

“But, Rabbi–“

“Listen to me, please!”

“But you haven’t even heard
what it is I want to talk about with you...”

“You and I both know
that whenever you want to talk with me
it’s about something you already know
you shouldn’t do.”

“But at least, please, listen–“

“Half of man is sinning...”

“And the other half?”

“The other half is ruing it.”

Wow! The IR is a pretty stern guide. Good self-governance going on there. Uhm this really is like the son speaking to the all knowing father, who is cut off at the pass. Is it for his own good or is this an invitation to go ahead and do it despite what is said in wisdom? How often will this person listen to his IR, I wonder? I like its snappy dialogue.

I love your take on this and the questions you raise!

The thing is, with respect to my poems, he's like one of those driving instructors in a car where there are two steering wheels and his can take over from yours. I wrestle with the dude and sometimes between my steering to the left and his correcting to the right, we end up going more or less straight ahead.
