I need to read Ludwig Tügel's "Over the Top" (don't know what's the title in German unfortunately). It so happens that I can't find it either online or in the library; in fact, it only has one mention in Google (under "Ludwig Tügel" + "Over the Top"). If anyone could tell me where I can find the short story, online or otherwise, or even the story's German title, I'd be very much grateful indeed.

Now, so that this wasn't a complete waste of your time, let me ask you, which author can you relate to the most? Me, Beckett. I find him to be most inspirational, despite all bleakness and pessimism in most of his work. My beliefs and worldview are so akin to his it's eerie. I'll probably never become famous, though, nor be stabbed by a pimp for no reason.

Who can you relate to?

EDIT ...forgot to change the title when I changed the content of the post. The title's supposed to be "I say, have you seen Mr Tügel? And likemindedness in authors". Perhaps a mod could change it? (What a marvellous debut this is, eh?)

Not sure where to find the text online, but I found THIS (http://books.google.com/books?id=759jdWk_-t0C&pg=RA1-PA132&lpg=RA1-PA132&dq=ludwig+tugel+%22over+the+top%22&source=bl&ots=-BM8fk3xMT&sig=UjlVVnaX1oBvWjQUBDTkRWcQhKY&hl=en&ei=BdWPSfClDITUMcL9_Y4L&sa=X&oi=book_result&resnum=3&ct=result#PRA1-PA132,M1) which gives a brief synopsis w/in an essay on the subject of the story and an anthology it appears in in the footnotes. Maybe you can track it down on Amazon or another and order it.

Authors: Chaucer, Wilde, Kafka, Tolkien. No ONE in particular...

Thanks for having looked it up, JoeLopp. I just wish I could know the story's name in German, can't find it for the life of me.

I'm with you on Kafka, both so ordinary and extraordinary. I also add Austen - love her life's uneventfulness.
