I got a B&N gift certificate for my birthday and I was thinking about getting some Ian McEwan, and maybe Salman Rushdie. So my reason for making this thread-besides the fact that I'm an attention whore-is because I want your input on those two authors. And suggestions are always welcome too!

I would suggest Ian McEwan. Attonement and Enduring Love are nice :)

The Concrete Garden is good too. A lot of McEwan's earlier stuff is rather dark and sinister, and often involving children. He has a gift for getting into the child mind-set. I didn't like Amsterdam much, and Black Dogs I found rather tedious. Atonement is probably his masterpiece. Enduring Love was great too.

Of Salman Rushdie, I've only read Fury. It was quite good.
