looking for a character named...

barclay! ive just make an email friend, who, when i asked about her name, told me her father named her after a character in a book he had read. i asked if she knew what book, she didnt; she asked her mother, and she didnt either. i did a little generic looking on the internet but didnt find anything. i told her i would try here.

does anyone know of a book, before 1983 (when she was born), with a character (male or female) named "barclay"?
