World Peace?

What will it take for us to finally understand,
That war is not the answer to the problems that we face
What kind of world is it where man destroys man,
Instead of creating ideals that all can embrace
The future that we leave our children is our legacy,
To see them grow up to change our world
Differences that we have are common, and we refuse to see
Anything except the flags that unfurl—
Religions, philosophies, regions, languages that we have,
Combine to make us all human in the end
Can’t we extend the Olive Branch to others and give
The needy what they require regardless of skin
Hope and wisdom should be the bricks that we build
Sometimes the greatest victory is the power to yield…

I find this sort of poetry odd. What I am trying to say is that it is as if the author is not sincerely weaved into to the content, despite the use of 'we' and 'us'. I get the impression a mirror is being held up to the world by the hand which holds the pen but it doesn't reflect the writer's own face. Because of this it slides down my skin onto the ground, into the gutter and to a place where I am unable to ponder - the writer's own journey. My comment has nought to do with your talent, which is, of course, superb.
