You walked through many parks
In the depth of the dark of the night
Walking the steps of your own ghost
Carefully pursuing his past.

Tales from the times in the theatre
Tales from the night with a stranger
Laughter with a ballerina as
She twirled along the moonlight lake.

You waited for the rising sun
That drew wisps from the water
Elegantly wilting into the grey light
Leaving a dampness on your skin

Dew dropped wonderland
Little liquid pebbles that
Capture your footprints
As your steps devour the path.

You can watch the people filing in
With their carriages and babies
With their books and their music
Trampling on invisible barricades.

Returned to sit on the confessional bench
In the park with a story, a story and a past
As it asks you about the difference between
Who you are and the person you could've been.

walking the steps of your own ghost....

yes, how often have i felt that shadow..... that might have been person who couldhave, shouldhave had a happier life...had i only reached for what i wanted instead of letting fear keep my fingers frozen ....unable to touch the possible..... how pathetic to be this old old woman with not even memories tumbling in her fountain of yesterday..... no sweet golden coins tossed into the waters of her life to be retrieved and fondled gently, brightening these darkening days........

I like this very much. I like reading poems and prose written in second person.

I am a sucker for confessional poetry that is not to self-centered. Sometimes it's difficult to do.

Good to see you posting here, Chava.

Thank you! I love this section, but my poetry is seldom (very seldom) up to par.

Chava, a lovely poem, verses 3 & 4 were particularly beautiful. And the closing verse made me think. Yes, a job well done. :thumbs_up

Somepeople regard themselves with remorse, but I'm glad that after all my walking and wondering, I turned out as who i am, rather than all the people I could have been. :)

Thanks Kiz.

"Dew dropped wonderland

I'm not exactly sure if I know what is going on in this section (reflection in dew of leaving?), but it's still excellent language! Very beautiful.

very lovely, very reflective; you capture a tone of pensiveness very well. And that fourth stanza is beautiful, a little added harmony to the melody.
