She is a Fickle Mistress

O Muse!
Where have thou flown?
you leave me alone upon this night
of nights

When I seek into the shadows
and explore widening crevices
but alas only darkness and dust
come away

Sweet-Bitter Muse
where do you steal away
like a fairy with mischief on your mind

Your laughter tinkles
and I try to snatch a kiss from your grace
only to have you skip away with a pinch
and slap in the face

What am I to do
when my Muse wants to play
hide in go seek

By why must she always hide
and I left ever to seek?

Tis a cruel cruel game
that we cannot find escape
she is a fickle mistress
but her charms are not be resisted

So we are left to wait
upon her deciding fate
when she may choose once more to wake
flaunting for a while
before she slips away

Love-hate
bound up in one
how unfaithful she is
but she is the one you
always forgive.

nice imagery... there are a few stanzas that really stand out... i can see errors, but the whole is thought out well... i like the figurative meeting with the concrete... it's the way i love to write...
