This Woman Called Rain
The rain is a lady
Who dances with me,
In the day or the night,
Mountains or by the sea—
Sometimes she’s so gentle
Caressing my face
Tenderly holding me
In her wet embrace—
Sometimes she cries
And it makes me so sad
To count all her teardrops
She must feel very bad—
Sometimes she's temperamental
Her brows flash in a scowl
Her voice raised in anger
Most horrible howl—
She’s a friend and a lover
Trickle or flood
I lift my face to the sky
For those teardrops of love…

Yay, a Pen poem. I haven't seen one in a while. :) Very nice Pen. I could almost hear an acousitic guitar playing with this.

:) I loved all of it...except for the 'sad' and 'bad' lines, though it's probably just my personal preference not to use the words 'very bad' in a rhyme if I can help it.

Welcome back! Good to see the flow of your poetry and to intuit the pleasure you get in composing it - and I especially admire the slant-rhyme of the last stanza where it was somehow more interesting NOT to have a full rhyme on "flood."

Thanks to all. Yeah, the 'sad' and 'bad' could have been better, I suppose, but I went with the flow of words. And Virgil is correct, you can play this one and sing it! :)

I thought the poem was very lovely, Pen. I like the idea of Rain being a woman, that was very creative! ;)

This is a really nice poem, I like the personification. It's pretty well written and the words bad and sad do flow with the poem so that didn't matter to me. :)

This reminds me of the great pop songs of the late 1950s, early
sixties when I was a little girl and heard them on the radio such as"Since I Don't Have You,"by The Skyliners and "In the Still of the Night" (I don't mean the great standard by Cole Porter one, I mean the do wop one by the Five Satins.)
Sometimes the simplest language conceals the most beauty, Pen.
