Sonnet #120
CXX.br /br /That you were once unkind befriends me now,br /And for that sorrow which I then did feelbr /Needs must I under my transgression bow,br /Unless my nerves were brass or hammer'd steel.br /For if you were by my unkindness shakenbr /As I by yours, you've pass'd a hell of time,br /And I, a tyrant, have no leisure takenbr /To weigh how once I suffered in your crime.br /O, that our night of woe might have remember'dbr /My deepest sense, how hard true sorrow hits,br /And soon to you, as you to me, then tender'dbr /The humble slave which wounded bosoms fits!br /But that your trespass now becomes a fee;br /Mine ransoms yours, and yours must ransom me.
