Well this may sound odd, and indeed it is: the night stand and the desk are one and the same piece of furniture. On the night stand side I have a pen and a pencil (because sometimes I read fotocopies in bed) and my lamp. This is on campus in London though. When I'm in Portugal it's the Bible (though I'm agnostic), a play or a book of short stories, the lamp and the alarm clock.
Pretty boring, really :)

Believe me, no ones answer is boring to me!
Look back at your response and at limajean's... lots of info about you all that I wouldn't have otherwise known. Much more interesting than a questionaire IMHO :D

So, limajean, big headphones because the little ones hurt your ears? Maybe you need to drown out noise? Something else?
Favorite Pokemon?

On my bed there is usually an assortment of Nerf blasters, 6-7 books, and clothes.

My nightstand is the head of my bed. It is a pretty old bed, but it is really convenient. :) It has a built-in shelf. It really saves room. I actually have a nicer bed, but I have yet to use it because this one is SO handy! I just stored that one away. :) I have a lamp, some "Beauty and the Beast" figures (which I am planning on moving soon - don't know what will take their places yet), and a rose covered box that I keep candy in on top of the shelf. Then on the shelf itself I have a couple of notepads, pens, datebook, whatever book(s) I am reading at the moment (which is Harold Coyle's Until the End), my remote control, my Turner Classic Movies program guide and eyeglasses. :)

Making women laugh is the only tool in my arsenal, my "shrekness" would be terrifying otherwise:p

Mine is draped with a thin, olive cover. It has this really odd, plastic plant with bamboo looking stalks and flowers that haven't blossomed at the top. It's in a Mayan looking container and it has a small mini Buddha sitting next to it. I have a pseudo-archaic looking lamp with a dim light and 2 books on surrealism and photos from the 20th century. I love my room.
I have a mini buddha! he sits on my dresser on a piece of cloth.

ON TOP:
There is a small lamp with a 25 watt bulb (I hate bright lights in the bedroom) that stands on a lacy doilie.
There is a Noah's Ark ceramic ornament in one corner, box of kleenex in the other.
I have a small notebook and a pen (I sometimes wake up with a brainstorm for a haiku, short story, or just to jot down a cool dream I had).
There is a small digital alarm clock.
INSIDE:
Fitness Magazines, Crossword Puzzle booklets, a couple of small photo albums, some extra pens/pencils, a flashlight, a few cards that I can't seem to throw away (birthday cards from special people), ummm, thats all I can think of. :)
Bright lights are terrible.
Mellow lighting all the way..

I agree...I hate those blinding overhead lights that people seem to have deemed necessary in bedrooms.

The book I'm currently reading, my i-pod (because I cannot sleep if I don't listen to a few heavy metal songs), my mobile phone, a notebook (just in case), two tiny teddy bears brought from Germany this year, a small lamp, my ugly alarm clock, and two little fairy statues. And some papers because I've been too lazy this week...

I have a lace doily; a clock radio; three bottles of perfune; a pare of sunglasses; a Chinesel doll/necklace stand; two glass elephants; a silk rose; a jewellery box; a red jewellery bag; an LED light in the shape of the base of the Eiffel Tower (the top broke off), and two Christian ornaments: a cross and a representation of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

Well I have a few things I use as a nightstand. I use my bedhead which is painted purple and yellow (painted as a yellow sun in a purple sky), and on it there is:
a fake rose twisted around one of the bars, with a little koala next to it that wears a little green jacket saying "I love Canberra"
a yellow cup (it had Nutrigrain in it)
an old antique box that has an old map on it and Spanish writing which says something along the lines of "The true map of the world" (it isn't though :p) and inside it are various highlighters and whiteboard markers
one of those lamp things where like the electricity follows your fingers (it's got a pink base and a pink fluffy border around the base) and a sticker is on it that says "Knee hi"
A photo frame with a photo of me and one of my friends trying to eat with chopsticks, then another photo frame with a photo of me and my friend with Ikea elephant toys on the train (it's a personalised one that one is, she wrote all over it)
A purple box covered in dragonflies that contains foreign currencies
A little yellow flower covered photo frame with a photo of me and 2 of my friends after we placed the first handprints on my wall
A little bright box/drawer thing which has little encouragement notes in it
A 2D wooden cactus which is painted and says "Sam's Room".
I moved them a short while ago but I had books up there too: Ibid: A Life - a novel in footnotes; Letters To Lilly On How The World Works; The War Of The Worlds; The Sleeper Awakes; and What The Bleep Do We Know!?
Then there is my drawers that have on them:
my digital clock
a USB case
a 2.0 fineliner
my flowers from when I won Dux of the year
a green wavy vase which has one Happy Birthday balloon and one Get Well Soon balloon in it.
In it is clothes.

Reading the replies, I have been struck by something I have never realised before - I have no books in my bedroom! In just about every other room in the house (except bathrooms, I can't stand books that have got damp and gone wavy round the edges) but not in the bedroom: it just goes to show how long-lasting early training is - I was not allowed to read in bed, 'bed is for sleeping' I was told. (It took a good many years for me to discover bed could be used for other activities...) When Himself was in hospital for a long spell some years ago and I had a really good clean in preparation for his return, knowing he would be bed-ridden and all sorts of nurses and helpers were going to be coming into the bedroom, I removed about a hundred books from his bedside table and adjacent chest-of-drawers (he did read in bed, often through to the small hours) so I wonder if it is also some kind of reaction to the time when I couldn't wave a duster in there without piles of books tottering precariously. Also, at the moment it's too cold to read in bed - I'd rather stay in my recliner with a blanket over my legs, it's warmer in the sitting room.
Now I have an alarm clock, a rather swish new lamp, Christmas pressie from a generous sister-in-law, it's the sort that switches on, dims and brightens and switches off just by touching the base, an asthma inhaler, a pot of cream for my dry lips, a glass of water on a coaster and a spare coaster in case I get up early and bring a cup of tea back to bed, the card Himself bought me on our first date -a repro of Ruskin's watercolour of a kingfisher -which guards my rings and saves them from being accidently swept to the floor, a telephone and, at night, my glasses.
As for what is in the drawers beneath, not even I know that - time for an early spring clean, perhaps? :)
