Midnight Sun

We drink by night
neath blood-red starlight
where the horizon fades
in shades of gray

The sky like a grave
with cracks in the moon
and the waters frozen
just like our bones

We play music
that belongs to the dead
and sing songs
never meant to be understood

Warmed by our rum
never bothered by love
like the waves of the sea
it washes in and it washes
away

But here we are under a
Midnight Sun where always
we plan to stay, souls
on the gravel walk
listening to the spirits talk

Everything taste a little sweeter
when you close your eyes
and ride the river Lethe
as it all just hums through
your blood.

It is sort of an obscure way of saying, if you do not give into worrying too much about the past, and do not dwell upon old memories, or things that are done and over with, but just forget it all, and move more tword the future then looking back, then everything just flows through you like water, and you can just ride the stream, without a care.

A dark write full of stark images. This has a nice flow that carried the theme home to my favorite verse:

"Everything taste a little sweeter
when you close your eyes
and ride the river Lethe
as it all just hums through
your blood."

I enjoyed the read very much.
